Josephinenhütte Champagne Glasses Review: No. 1, No. 2 & No. 4

Josephinenhütte Champagne Glasses: My three most precious companions

As The Champagne Guy, I've tested many glasses, but the Josephinenhütte collection completely blew me away. These three mouth-blown works of art from Silesian tradition are reserved for my absolute highlight moments.

First touch: Almost frighteningly delicate

When I first unpacked them, I honestly thought: "These won't survive a week." The wall thickness is so minimal that you can see through the glass as if it were air. Each of the three models feels weightless - a completely surreal experience.

No. 1: My vintage specialist

The No. 1 is my glass for old champagnes. The wide opening and bulbous bowl give aged champagnes the space they need. When I open a 1996 Krug or an old Bollinger RD, the No. 1 automatically comes into play.

The texture on the palate is a revelation with this glass - the creaminess of old champagnes is virtually amplified. The thin glass practically disappears between your lips.

No. 2: The all-rounder for Prestige Cuvées

I use the No. 2 for my prestige champagnes - Dom Pérignon, Cristal, Krug Grande Cuvée. The slightly slimmer shape compared to the No. 1 concentrates the aromas perfectly without trapping them.

Recently with a Dom Pérignon 2013, the difference to my regular glasses was dramatic. The minerality came through much clearer, the perlage seemed more lively. The No. 2 is definitely my favorite for classic champagnes.

No. 4: For the very special moments

The No. 4 only comes out for absolute exceptional champagnes. The elegant tulip shape and minimally wider opening make it my glass for grower champagnes and special single vineyards.

This is where the true magic of Josephinenhütte shows: The texture perception is a completely different dimension. Champagne feels silkier, the perlage is perceived more intensely.

#saynotoflutes - Why tulip shape is crucial

All three Josephinenhütte models follow the wine glass-like tulip shape - and that's crucial. Flutes have no place with champagne! The wide opening lets the aromas breathe, while the narrowing bowl concentrates them.

When I DON'T use these glasses

Honestly: These glasses are only ready for really special bottles. For everyday champagne enjoyment, they're too precious and too fragile for me. When friends are over who aren't used to handling such delicate glasses, they stay in the cabinet.

My conclusion: Perfection for special moments

The Josephinenhütte glasses are works of art that elevate champagne enjoyment to another level. The mouth-blown perfection and incredible thin walls make every sip a special experience.

Anyone who takes champagne seriously and is willing to invest in extraordinary glasses will find their final destination here. I don't regret a single dollar.
