Duval-Leroy — Millésime 2008

Millésime 2008

Duval-Leroy | Prestige Cuvée | Vintage 2008

A spontaneous purchase – but definitely not a random one. Discovered the day before, picked up immediately – and didn't regret it for a second.

I had already opened the Premier Cru Brut from them in January. A solid entry-level bottle, clear, charming, balanced – perfect for a quiet Sunday with a to-do list, structure, and the first coffee afterward. But what I now had in my glass was a completely different caliber.

️ Vintage: 2008 Cuvée: Chardonnay & Pinot Noir Origin: Premier & Grand Cru sites ️ Production: Stainless steel tanks, malolactic fermentation ️ Dosage: approx. 6–8 g/l – classic Brut

Immediately present on the palate: taut, ripe, precise – with deep, almost Burgundian aromatics. Yellow stone fruit, some ripe grapefruit, delicate roasting notes and an elegant structure that has lasting impact. No comparison to the softer, more charming Premier Cru – this here is real statement material.

It's fascinating to see how a house like Duval-Leroy can show its top tier – and this 2008 is definitely one of the better surprises from conventional retail.

Tasting Notes
