It all started about three years ago when I first consciously enjoyed a champagne. Like many others, I began my first 2 years with the big houses – mainly for prestige reasons.
But at some point, I became increasingly drawn to getting to know the many small growers of Champagne – with their special approaches, unique methods, exceptional sites, and subtle characteristics.
So over a glass of champagne, a crazy idea emerges: Why not try champagne from every producing grower in Champagne?
Initially, I'm thinking of a few hundred houses – an ambitious but doable mission. But then I come across the number of over 3,000 producing champagne estates in France!
That means: A different bottle every day – for the next 10 years!
Challenge accepted!
The first step? Naturally, stocking up the cellar. With 30 new bottles, I'm officially starting this journey and looking forward to discovering the diversity of Champagne and expanding my knowledge bottle by bottle.
