Charles de Cazanove: Tête de Cuvée Brut

Charles de Cazanove: Tête de Cuvée Brut

The Cuvée

Charles de Cazanove is a Négociant house from Reims, HVE-certified, with a broad range from Blanc de Blancs to Millésime. The Tête de Cuvée Brut is the supermarket-friendly middle of this lineup: solidly executed in the glass, with citrus, some yeast and a touch of brioche, but with a few rough edges that don't seem quite polished. An honest, somewhat rustic Brut. Once tried is enough, I'd rather reach for an alternative from the same shelf.

My Tastings

Another one from the supermarket category. Two bottles, one supermarket, €17.99 each. Pure curiosity: Charles de Cazanove, Tête de Cuvée Brut and Louis Morette, Brut.

Tested both. Both solid. But if I'm being honest: In the future I'd go with the Morette.

The Charles de Cazanove comes solidly into the glass, with citrus, some yeast, a touch of brioche. But also with edges that don't seem quite smoothly polished.
