Prestige Cuvée
Veuve Pelletier | Prestige Cuvée
Picked this up at Metro for €17.99 – and as always: I want to try every champagne.
After my pleasant surprise with Gruet (which was honestly solid for the price) and the less enjoyable experience with Henri Dubois (which I definitely don't need a second time), I was curious to see where the Veuve Pelletier would fit in.
Category: Supermarket champagne Price: €17.99 Grape varieties: Unknown (probably Chardonnay & Pinot Meunier) Nose: Fresh, fruity, but little depth Palate: Light citrus notes, somewhat floral, but little complexity
Verdict? Not a disaster, but also nothing I'd buy again to drink straight. For me, it falls more into the category of "could work quite well as a cocktail base in summer" – for example, with some Pampelle, mint and ice as a fresh spritz.
Info about the producer? Once again, none to be found. No website, no Instagram, just a private label champagne. If anyone knows more about it – bring on the info!
What's your take on champagne cocktails? If you drink them, do you only use top grower or prestige champagne, or sometimes a budget version too? Or do you drink champagne exclusively straight?
Tasting Notes
Fresh, fruity nose without much depth. Light citrus notes and floral hints on the palate, but little complexity.
