Royal Glas Review: My Three Champagne Glasses Put to the Test

Royal Glas Review: Why I Rely on Danish Champagne Glasses

As a passionate champagne lover, I'm constantly searching for the perfect glass. After spending time with various manufacturers, I've settled on Royal Glas – a Danish brand that specializes exclusively in champagne glasses. My collection now includes three models that I use regularly.

Why Royal Glas? #saynotoflutes

Champagne definitely doesn't belong in flutes! The narrow, tall glasses may look elegant, but they rob champagne of its aromas. Royal Glas understands this and produces exclusively bowl-shaped glasses with a large surface area – exactly what champagne needs to unfold its full potential.

Polymaster (34cl): My Aperitif Companion

The Polymaster is my glass for relaxed aperitif rounds. With a 34cl volume, it's perfectly sized when guests come over and I'm serving several champagnes one after another. The compact size prevents the champagne from getting too warm before the glass is emptied.

I especially appreciate the Polymaster with Grower Champagnes or simpler Cuvées. The glass concentrates the aromas wonderfully without overwhelming. At my recent champagne evenings with friends, the Polymaster was the star – handy, elegant, and functional.

Ultima (40cl): The Perfect All-Rounder

The Ultima has become my absolute favorite glass. At 40cl, it hits the sweet spot between functionality and enjoyment. This is where 90% of my champagnes end up – from the spontaneous bottle after work to the special dinner.

The shape is perfectly balanced: enough space for the aromas, but not too large for daily use. Last night I drank a wonderful Blanc de Blancs from the Ultima – the minerality came through so clearly, like I'd never experienced in other glasses.

Gran Ultima (54cl): For Special Moments

The Gran Ultima only comes out for very special occasions. At 54cl, it's a statement glass for Prestige Cuvées and intensive tastings. When I open an expensive Vintage or rare Cuvée, it's only from this glass.

The large surface area fully develops even the most complex aromas. Last week I had a 2008 Dom Pérignon in the Gran Ultima – the depth and complexity that developed was breathtaking. This glass is made for such moments.

My Conclusion on Royal Glas

What convinces me about Royal Glas is the consistent specialization in champagne. Every glass is perfectly tuned to champagne's needs – large surface area, optimal aroma concentration, and still practical for everyday use.

The craftsmanship is flawless, the glasses feel good in hand and survive even a livelier party. After over a year of intensive use, all three models still look like new.

I can unreservedly recommend Royal Glas to any champagne lover. Three different sizes for three different occasions – perfectly thought out and proven in practice.
