For me, rosé isn't just an easy-summer champagne, but rather a conscious question of style.
That's why I like rosés best when they don't really seem like rosé at all. No strawberry perfume, not necessarily a pronounced fruit profile, but sometimes quite the opposite.
The Rosé d'Assemblage hits that pretty much exactly. It does just that: with more Chardonnay than Pinot Noir, with more freshness than fruit, and with a line that comes through texture and tension rather than effect.
In the glass it seems rather cool and focused, with delicate red fruit in the background and that chalky tension you immediately associate with the Côte des Blancs: clear and mineral.
This isn't a rosé "for casual drinking" that gets consumed quickly. Rather one that accompanies the day a bit and with each sip shows more clearly how it can change over time, air, and temperature.
Tasting Notes
Cool, focused rosé with delicate red fruit in the background and chalky, mineral tension typical of the Côte des Blancs. More freshness than fruit, convincing through texture and tension rather than effect.
