Champagne Mathelin — Cœur de Meunier 2018

Cœur de Meunier 2018

Champagne Mathelin | Blanc de Noirs | Vintage 2018

How much do you let the appearance of a bottle influence you?

I actually try to block it out completely. My wife – a designer – always considers that aspect though. And to be fair: with the Cœur de Meunier from Mathelin, the exterior was initially more of a hurdle.

But then came the proof – in the glass.

The 2018 immediately feels calm, clear and surprisingly precise. A Blanc de Noirs from 100% Pinot Meunier, and that's exactly how it tastes: warm, spicy, lightly nutty – at the same time fresh and with that fine, natural Brut Nature tension.

The aromatics: ripe pear, apple, some citrus zest, fresh dough, a touch of roasted nut. The texture: creamy and taut at the same time. The perlage: fine, elegant, delicate.

Tasting Notes

A calm, precise Blanc de Noirs with warm, spicy and lightly nutty notes. Aromas of ripe pear, apple, citrus zest and fresh dough with creamy, but taut texture.
