Everyone knows it. Everyone knows the Brut Impérial. A classic that almost everyone has had in their glass at some point, solid, reliable, easily recognizable.
But the Grand Vintage 2013?
That's a completely different chapter. One that shows what Moët can really do when it comes to depth, structure and maturity.
I opened it today, not for any special occasion, but out of curiosity. It was time to find out if Moët can do more than "Impérial", and whether my judgment so far might have been too hasty.
While the standard Brut tends more toward fruit, openness and uncomplicated approachability, the Grand Vintage 2013 shows a cooler, more serious style:
• Assemblage: 41% Chardonnay, 38% Pinot Noir, 21% Meunier • ️ Disgorged: March 2021 • ️ 7 years on lees • ️ Dosage: 5 g/l, Extra Brut • Style: clean, mature, precise • Aromas: citrus, white peach, toasted brioche, slightly mineral
In the glass it shows tension and structure, with a fine maturity that doesn't push itself to the forefront.

the_champagne.guy Man kennt @moetchandon . Man kennt den Brut Impérial. Ein Klassiker, den fast jeder schon mal im Glas hatte – solide, verlässlich, leicht wiederzuerkennen. Aber der Grand Vintage 2013? Das ist ein ganz anderes Kapitel. Einer, der zeigt, was Moët wirklich kann, wenn es um Tiefe, Struktur und Reife geht. Ich habe ihn heute geöffnet – nicht aus Anlass, sondern aus Neugier. Es wurde Zeit herauszufinden, ob Moët mehr kann als „Impérial“ – und ob mein Urteil bisher vielleicht zu voreilig war. Während der Standard-Brut eher in Richtung Frucht, Offenheit und unkompliziertem Einstieg geht, zeigt der Grand Vintage 2013 eine kühlere, ernstere Stilistik: • 🍇 Assemblage: 41 % Chardonnay, 38 % Pinot Noir, 21 % Meunier • 🗓️ Dégorgiert: März 2021 • 🕰️ 7 Jahre auf der Hefe • ⚖️ Dosage: 5 g/l – Extra Brut • 🧊 Stilistik: klar, reif, präzise • 🍋 Aromen: Zitrus, weißer Pfirsich, getoastetes Brioche, leicht mineralisch Im @riedel_official Glas zeigt er Spannung und Struktur, mit einer feinen Reife, die sich nicht in den Vordergrund drängt. Fazit: Wer Moët bisher nur als „Prestige-Marke“ für große Logos und Club-Magnums abgespeichert hat, sollte dem Grand Vintage 2013 eine Chance geben.
