– Le Mont de Reuil 2016

A champagne I've now tried in three completely different settings – and each time it was perfect in its own way.

With an antipasti/charcuterie board: aged cheese, beef bresaola, creamy burrata – bold, salty, hearty. The Meunier? Fresh, citrusy, contrasting – and precisely why it works so well. A real play of opposites.

With sushi: Especially the salmon makes the champagne shine. The combination of freshness, acidity and structure works perfectly even with wasabi and soy sauce – which isn't a given with champagnes.

Solo: No board, no plate, no pairing. Just the wine and the glass.

It carries itself beautifully on its own. Citrus fruit, fine yeasty spice, mineral character, a touch of oak structure – and an incredibly vibrant freshness that provides depth even without food.

Tasting Notes

A versatile Meunier with citrus fruit, fine yeasty spice and mineral character, complemented by a touch of oak structure. Incredibly vibrant freshness through avoiding malolactic fermentation.
