Daniel Leclerc — Cuvée Réserve

Cuvée Réserve

Daniel Leclerc | Brut

But where to begin? I decided on the Cuvée Réserve. Why? When I'm getting to know a winery or champagne house, I deliberately try not to start with the classic entry-level Brut. Too often I've felt that the first impression went in too generic a direction – and therefore the winemaker's true potential didn't come through properly. The Cuvée Réserve seemed to me like the cuvée that could reflect the house style well. 100% Pinot Noir from the Côte des Bar, expressive and with character. A champagne with structure, ripe fruit notes, spice and a fine creaminess. Tasting notes: Color: Straw yellow with golden reflections, fine, lively bubbles. Aroma: Ripe fruits, roasted coffee, fine spice notes. Taste: Full-bodied, creamy, with pronounced Pinot Noir structure and a long, spicy finish. In the coming days I'll try more champagnes from Daniel Leclerc – and then see if my assessment is correct. Was the Cuvée Réserve really the perfect choice for getting to know the house? Who knows Daniel Leclerc's champagnes and has a favorite? I'm curious about your opinions!
