Nos Terres Amoureuses 2021

Domaine Alimar | Brut Nature | Vintage 2021

The – Nos Terres Amoureuses was somehow special. Particularly good, but also not quite "simple".

Alexis (and Jeanne) Limar work in La Neuville-aux-Larris, with a focus on precise, sleek champagnes: spontaneously fermented, unfined, unfiltered, long on the lees – and generally rather lightly dosed.

Nos Terres Amoureuses is built uncompromisingly on Meunier – from a south-facing parcel in the Vallée de la Marne. Fermented in stainless steel with native yeasts, then aged just over three years on the lees and completely without dosage.

Aromatically I got very bright, precise notes: pear and mirabelle, some white flowers, plus a touch of orange zest and almond. On the palate then dry and very clear, with a slightly chalky texture and this fine, saline pull that makes the wine longer than you think at the first sip. And yes – this "wet stone" comes through here again too.

Tasting Notes
