Georges Remy: Les Quatre Terroirs No. 21 2021

The Cuvée

Georges Remy calls Bouzy home, a Grand-Cru village in the Montagne de Reims that's especially famous for powerful Pinot Noir. Les Quatre Terroirs No. 21 plays with this origin right in the name: a cuvée from four terroirs, vinified and aged on fine lees in wood, as Brut Nature completely without dosage.

The result is a champagne that carries for hours, glass after glass, without losing tension. Lots of juicy mandarin, mandarin and lemon zest with their fine bitterness, plus a deep, almost honey-colored dark gold. With air it becomes clearer, more structured and drier, the citric tension keeps everything bright, the texture remains creamy without ever tipping into sweetness.

My Tastings

The Georges Remy, Les Quatre Terroirs No. 21 is a champagne that can accompany you for hours, glass after glass, without ever losing tension. It pairs especially well with a plate of dried fruits, nuts and fine pastries.

In the first impression lots of mandarin, juicy, ripe, but never sweet. Plus mandarin and lemon zest, that fine bitterness of the peel that gives freshness while creating depth at the same time. The color: deep dark gold, almost honey-colored, warm and calm in the glass.

With a bit of air it becomes clearer and more precise. The fruit remains present but becomes more structured, drier, more focused. The citric tension keeps everything bright, the texture stays creamy, nothing tips into sweetness. A perfect example of how well such wines unfold over time and work in different situations.
