Louis Roederer — Vintage 2016

Vintage 2016

Louis Roederer | Prestige Cuvée | Vintage 2016

After only trying the Collection 242 and 243 from Louis Roederer so far, it was time to dive deeper into Roederer's style – with Vintage 2016. The first sip already shows: this is in a different league.

Tasting impressions: Ripe yellow fruits, roasted almonds & honey Profound & structured, with vibrant freshness Creamy texture with elegant, persistent perlage Long, precise finish with saline minerality

What's behind it? Pinot Noir & Chardonnay from their own Grand & Premier Cru vineyards 2016 – a challenging year with cool spring & hot summer → Result: perfect balance of ripeness & tension Partially aged in wood for additional depth Dosage: 7-8 g/l – classic Roederer, to maintain elegance

What makes Roederer so special? 150 of the 240 hectares of their own vineyards are now farmed organically. That's a real statement, because hardly any other major champagne house is so consistently committed to sustainable viticulture. At least that's what I read in the book by [author name]

Long fermentation for more structure Moderate dosage for balance between freshness & depth Wood aging & parcel-by-parcel vinification for additional complexity

"The Vintage is the bridge between the Collection series and Cristal. More structure, more depth, but still with that unmistakable Roederer style." – Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon -

Conclusion This Vintage crowns everything I've tried from Roederer so far. It shows a different facet than the Collection series – more depth, more expression, but still with that typical Roederer precision.
