Robert Allait: Prestige 2016

Prestige 2016

Robert Allait | Prestige Cuvée | Vintage 2016

Yesterday, after a final Zoom call until 9:30 PM, it was clear: A long, intense 15-hour day deserves a worthy conclusion. And what could be better than a glass of Prestige, all by itself, simply for the moment.

100% Meunier? Not quite. 50% Meunier, 35% Chardonnay, 15% Pinot Noir bring a beautiful balance between fruit, freshness and structure.

No malolactic fermentation, typical Robert Allait! This keeps the acidity lively, the citrus notes clear and the freshness noticeably preserved.

In the glass? Golden reflections, fine perlage. On the nose white peach, red apples, a hint of caramel. On the palate soft, elegant and yet with wonderful liveliness.

Glass choice? Today the Fatto a Mano with the red stem, even though the blue capsule of the champagne and the glass absolutely clash color-wise. But taste-wise it was exactly the right choice!

After the Le Mont de Reuil 2016 yesterday at lunch, so another bottle from Robert Allait from the cellar, and definitely a good decision.

Do you know Robert Allait? And how do you feel about Meunier champagne?

Tasting Notes
