Paul Lebrun — L'Irremplaçable

L'Irremplaçable

Paul Lebrun | Blanc de Blancs

"La passion comme héritage" – passion as heritage.

This phrase was printed on the capsule of the Cuvée L'Irremplaçable from today.

The name translates to "The Irreplaceable" and is a true tribute to the over 120-year history of this family winery from Cramant, now run by 6th generation Nathalie Vignier. The philosophy here is clear: 100% Chardonnay, 100% dedication.

What makes this Blanc de Blancs so special is its origin. It brings together the best of two worlds: The cool, chalky minerality and finesse of the Côte des Blancs meets the somewhat richer, more mature fruit of the Sézannais in the south.

In the glass, it shows beautifully accessible yet complex. On the nose, notes of fresh apple, juicy pear, and citrus fruits alternate with fine toasted aromas, almonds, and a hint of brioche – a result of 34 months of lees aging. On the palate, it's extremely lively, has great drive, and finishes with a mineral-saline finish that's typical of the limestone soil.

With its 8 g/l dosage (Brut), it's incredibly well balanced and the perfect, elegant all-rounder – served today as a wonderful aperitif for me.

Tasting Notes

An accessible yet complex Blanc de Blancs with notes of fresh apple, pear, citrus, toasted aromas, almonds, and brioche. Lively on the palate with a mineral-saline finish.
