Piot-Sévillano — Prestige Cuvée 2013

Prestige Cuvée 2013

Piot-Sévillano | Prestige Cuvée | Vintage 2013

Flight 2 with 4 more bottles from the advent calendar felt different from the start.

Fewer contrasts, fewer extremes – instead more substance, more warmth, more maturity.

While Flight 1 was heavily defined by acidity, dosage and tension, here Meunier in its classic, aged form took center stage: vintage, reserve wines, old vines.

Again opened and tasted in parallel, same glasses ( ), same order, same commitment to comparability.

The bottles:

Millésime 2013 Fruity-fresh, with fine sweetness. Surprisingly approachable for a vintage - less tension, more balance. -> 80% Meunier · 20% Pinot Noir · Vintage 2013 · 7 g/l

Brut Essence de Terroir Copper color, fine minerality, beautiful fruit. Notable: very present mousse, almost demanding. -> 70% Meunier · 15% Pinot Noir · 15% Chardonnay · 7 g/l

Cuvée Prestige Deeper, warmer, juicy. Toasted aromas only came after about ten seconds - lots of reserve wine, lots of patience. -> 80% Meunier · 20% Pinot Noir · ⅔ reserve wines · 7.2 g/l

Cuvée Provocante The most approachable wine in the flight. Spicy, balanced, classic Brut style despite 100% Meunier. -> 100% Meunier (old vines) · 6.5 g/l

Tasting Notes

A flight with four aged Meunier-focused champagnes, characterized by substance, warmth and maturity instead of acidity and tension. The wines show fruity sweetness, fine minerality, toasted aromas and spicy balance.
