Brut Suprême 2019
Royal Riviera | Prestige Cuvée | Vintage 2019
Sweet melon, salty ham – and a touch of Côte d'Azur in the glass.
Sweet melon, salty ham – and a touch of Côte d'Azur in the glass. Evening was one of those evenings where you don't really need much: A few slices of Serrano, ripe cantaloupe melon – nothing more. With it: a bottle – Brut Suprême, whose turquoise label looks more like yacht than terroir. And that's exactly the point: This champagne doesn't want to loudly proclaim its origin, but rather sun, pool & style sense. Less winemaker philosophy – more lifestyle in the glass. But hey: It was solid. 100% Côte d'Azur attitude Fruity, soft, easy to drink Delicate sweetness, some brioche, a hint of white flowers No great character – but definitely a charming companion By the way: The Royal Riviera was awarded a gold medal in the "First Date" category at the 2019 Glass of Bubbly Awards. What does that mean? A champagne that makes an impression – accessible, charming, stylish. No big drama, but a likeable performance. And maybe exactly what a first glass should sometimes be. Conclusion: Not every champagne has to be profound. Some just want to look beautiful, please uncomplicated – and deliver exactly that. And that was exactly such a moment. A plate, a glass, a sunset – works. ême
