Les Vicomtes 2020

Champagne A. et C. Toullec | Extra Brut | Vintage 2020

Who says opening champagne always looks elegant?

The Les Vicomtes bottle from comes with a ficelage of sturdy hemp cord – hand-tied, rustic, beautiful. And, I'll admit: a real opponent when you've never opened such a bottle before and have no idea how the ficelage is knotted under the beautiful wax seal.

But: The little struggle was worth it. In the glass then powerful, spicy, salty – with depth and structure. Not a crowd-pleasing easy sipper, but a champagne with ambition and character.
