René Haton
Haton et Filles | Brut
First Sunday of Advent. Slept in later than usual – and somehow everyone was in the mood for something hearty.
But Sunday without breakfast? Not happening.
So we made shakshuka. And champagne at ten in the morning alongside it is totally legitimate, right?
So I quickly brought the "René Haton" up to temperature...
The first sip: bright, fresh, charming – but with 9g dosage, a touch too round for my taste at this hour.
And then the first spoonful of shakshuka: tomato, chili, paprika, garlic, the gentle sweetness of onion and that soft, creamy egg.
This is where the champagne came alive. The dosage suddenly became part of the dish, embedded in the spices, carried by the tomato, cushioned by the egg. The acidity of the Chardonnay lifted everything up, the perlage and texture perfectly integrated.
Tasting Notes
Bright, fresh and charming with a certain roundness from the 9g dosage. Interesting on its own, but only reaches its full potential with spicy food.
Erster Adventssonntag. Später aufgestanden als sonst – und irgendwie hatte jeder Lust auf etwas Deftiges. Aber Sonntag ohne Frühstück? Geht nicht.…
