Le Brun de Neuville — Côte Blanche Blanc de Blancs Brut

Côte Blanche Blanc de Blancs Brut

Le Brun de Neuville | Blanc de Blancs

A pairing experiment with mixed results: Greek food – abundant, fatty, spicy, aromatic. Dolmades, tzatziki, lamb skewers, gyros, crispy potatoes, pita, calamari. Food: fantastic. Champagne: equally so. Just not quite a match together.

In the glass: Le Brun de Neuville – Cote Blanche – Blanc de Blancs Brut.

100% Chardonnay with freshness, salinity, and precise acidity – served in the Josephinen No. 4, with a focus on freshness. Theoretically a great pairing for Mediterranean cuisine.

But the food was simply too dominant – fatty, smoky, crispy, hearty. The champagne seemed almost shy in comparison, slightly overwhelmed.

After the meal, it was like a fresh start: freshness, fine acidity, yellow fruit, clear structure. Really strong when drunk solo. Le Brun de Neuville definitely has more to offer – best with lighter dishes or as an aperitif.

Tasting Notes

A 100% Chardonnay with freshness, fine acidity, salinity, and yellow fruit. Enjoyed on its own, it shows clear structure and convinces, but seemed overwhelmed when paired with hearty Greek food.
