Champagne Pointillart Leroy — Corps & Esprit

Corps & Esprit

Champagne Pointillart Leroy | Blanc de Blancs

I hadn't planned this at all – but actually, no new post has gone online since August 5th.

Champagne drunk? Yes. Photos taken? Also yes.

But somehow vacation felt too good to spend it on my phone.

So the phone stayed in my bag more often.

Now, with a few days' distance, I still want to capture some of these bottles.

Let's start with: – Corps & Esprit – on the beach at Wells-next-the-Sea.

A quick day trip from Cambridge. Car parked, shoes off, wind whistling over the dunes, salt in the air. The sun's hitting almost 86 degrees – but with the stiff breeze it doesn't feel hot, just light.

And then: somewhere between picnic blanket, sand toys, and wet feet – a glass of champagne.

I had the Corps & Esprit with me. Well chilled in the cooler, the Black Tie glasses secure in the bag, the setup worked as planned, even though some beachgoers nearly dropped their juice boxes at the sight.

And yet: The first thing I noticed was that I had trouble focusing on the familiar aromas.

The sand, the light, the salty skin, the wind blowing away every scent note – everything was different.

And that was exactly what was beautiful about it. No concentrated tasting, no targeted analysis. Just a cold glass in hand, somewhere in the middle of nowhere.

And that's exactly where it fit: the Corps & Esprit – not too demanding, but with enough structure not to get lost.
