Champagne Pointillart Leroy | Blanc de Blancs
I hadn't planned it at all, but actually no new post has gone online since August 5th.
Drank champagne? Yes. Took photos? Also yes.
But somehow vacation felt too good to spend it on my phone.
So the phone stayed in my bag more often.
Now, with a few days' distance, I still want to capture a few of these bottles.
Let's start with: Corps & Esprit, on the beach at Wells-next-the-Sea.
A short day trip from Cambridge. Parked the car, took off shoes, the wind whistles over the dunes, salt in the air. The sun is almost 30 degrees, but the stiff breeze makes it feel not hot, but light.
And then: somewhere between picnic blanket, sand toys and wet feet, a glass of champagne.
I had the Corps & Esprit with me. Well chilled in the cooler, the Black Tie glasses safe in the bag, the setup worked as planned, even though some beachgoers would have almost dropped their juice boxes at this sight.
And yet: The first thing I noticed was that I had trouble getting into the familiar aromas.
The sand, the light, the salty skin, the wind that blows away every scent note, everything was different.
And that was exactly what was beautiful about it. No concentrated tasting, no targeted analysis. Just a cold glass in hand, somewhere in the middle of nowhere.
And that's exactly where it fit: the Corps & Esprit, not too demanding, but with enough structure not to get lost.

A classic, structured Blanc de Blancs with fine fruit and subtle spice. Accessible and not too demanding, but with enough structure to hold its own.
the_champagne.guy Ich hatte das gar nicht geplant – aber tatsächlich ist seit dem 5. August kein neuer Post mehr online gegangen. Champagner getrunken? Ja. Fotos gemacht? Auch. Aber irgendwie hat sich der Urlaub zu gut angefühlt, um ihn am Handy zu verbringen. Also blieb das Handy öfter in der Tasche. Jetzt, mit ein paar Tagen Abstand will ich ein paar dieser Flaschen trotzdem festhalten. Los geht’s mit: @champagne.pointillart.leroy – Corps & Esprit – am Strand von Wells-next-the-Sea. Ein kurzer Tagesausflug von Cambridge aus. Auto abgestellt, Schuhe ausgezogen, der Wind pfeift über die Dünen, Salz in der Luft. Die Sonne hat fast 30 Grad – aber durch die steife Brise fühlt es sich nicht heiß an, sondern leicht. Und dann: irgendwo zwischen Picknickdecke, Sandspielzeug und nassen Füßen – ein Glas Champagner. Ich hatte den Corps & Esprit dabei. Gut gekühlt im @grad.dk Cooler, die Black Tie Gläser sicher im @riedel_official Bag, das Setup funktionierte wie geplant, auch wenn einigen Strandbesuchern bei diesem Anblick fast ihre Saftpäckchen aus der Hand gefallen wären. 😂 Und trotzdem: Das erste, was mir auffiel, war, dass ich mich schwer tat, mich auf die gewohnten Aromen einzulassen. Der Sand, das Licht, die salzige Haut, der Wind, der jede Duftnote wegbläst – alles war anders. Und genau das war das Schöne daran. Kein konzentriertes Tasting, keine gezielte Analyse. Einfach nur ein kaltes Glas in der Hand, irgendwo im Nirgendwo. Und genau dort passte er hin: der Corps & Esprit – nicht zu fordernd, aber mit genug Struktur, um nicht unterzugehen.
