Esprit Chapuy — Cuvée Minéral 2014

Cuvée Minéral 2014

Esprit Chapuy | Blanc de Blancs | Vintage 2014

Yesterday I opened the Cuvée Minéral from Esprit Chapuy.

A 100% Chardonnay Grand Cru from Oger, base year 2014, with 30% reserve wines (2011–2013), 10 years on the lees, aged in stainless steel – and very gently dosed with 3 g/l.

So a wine that already screams depth, focus and clarity on paper.

In the glass then exactly what I expected - precision that was perfectly guided through my No.4 Champagne glass.

On the nose first spicy and intense, then yellow fruits come through, some honey, brioche, and again and again that chalky line that pulls everything together. On the palate full, powerful, structured. Ripe fruit, good tension, clear substance.

This is not the playful Blanc de Blancs for a quick aperitif. This is a wine that shows what happens when you take time, maturity and terroir seriously - so perfect for such a quiet evening when you have some peace to think about the bottle.

Tasting Notes

On the nose spicy and intense with yellow fruits, honey, brioche and a chalky minerality. On the palate full, powerful and structured with ripe fruit and good tension.
