Last week was Oscar night, and since I didn't have any Lallier in the cellar, I had to make do with Veuve Clicquot. But I couldn't let that stand... so I immediately ordered a few bottles! They arrived on Friday, went straight into the fridge, and today I finally got to try them.
How does the Réflexion R019 perform? Lallier takes an exciting approach with the Réflexion series: Instead of creating a "classic" non-vintage cuvée, they focus on an annual reinterpretation that emphasizes the character of the base vintage. In this case: 2019.
The facts: Assemblage: 56% Pinot Noir, 44% Chardonnay Base year: 2019 with 40% reserve wines Aging: Partially in wood, no malolactic fermentation Dosage: 7 g/l, perfectly balanced
Nose: Fresh yellow fruits, some brioche, a subtle spice Palate: Juicy, powerful and with a salty minerality that makes it extremely exciting.
Glass comparison: I gave the Lallier the champagne glasses from my cabinet again today, but somehow I didn't warm up to it. The champagne immediately seemed very austere, mineral and acid-forward. The glass is just too narrow for me, which doesn't feel ideal for this style. So I immediately compared it with the other one, and voilà: Suddenly much more harmonious, fruitier and more approachable!
A clearly structured, powerful champagne that really makes you want another sip with its combination of fruit, acidity and salinity. Not "easy drinking," but one that deserves attention, and gets it!
Compared to the Yellow Label from last Monday, this is a completely different world: more precise, more focused and with more depth. So if you're looking for an alternative to the big brands, Lallier definitely has something to offer!

the_champagne.guy Letzte Woche war Oscar-Night 🎬✨ – und da ich keinen Lallier im Keller hatte, musste der Veuve Clicquot herhalten. Aber das ließ sich natürlich nicht auf mir sitzen… also direkt ein paar Flaschen @champagne_lallier bestellt! Am Freitag angekommen, direkt eingekühlt – und heute endlich probiert. 👉 Wie schlägt sich der Réflexion R019? Lallier geht mit der Réflexion-Serie einen spannenden Weg: Statt eine „klassische“ Non-Vintage-Cuvée zu kreieren, setzen sie auf eine jährliche Neuinterpretation, die den Charakter des Basisjahrgangs betont. In diesem Fall: 2019. 🍾 Die Fakten: 🔹 Assemblage: 56% Pinot Noir, 44% Chardonnay 🔹 Basisjahr: 2019 mit 40% Reserve-Weinen 🔹 Ausbau: Teilweise im Holz, keine malolaktische Gärung 🔹 Dosage: 7 g/l – perfekt ausbalanciert 👃 Nase: Frische gelbe Früchte, etwas Brioche, eine subtile Würze 👅 Gaumen: Saftig, kraftvoll und mit einer salzigen Mineralität, die ihn extrem spannend macht. 💡 Glasvergleich: Ich habe dem Lallier heute mal wieder die @zwieselglas -Champagnergläser aus meinem Schrank gegönnt – aber irgendwie wurde ich damit nicht warm. Der Champagner kam mir direkt sehr streng, mineralisch und säurebetont vor. Das Glas ist mir einfach zu schmal, was sich für diesen Stil nicht ideal anfühlt. Also direkt der Vergleich mit dem @gabriel_glas – und siehe da: Plötzlich deutlich harmonischer, fruchtiger und zugänglicher! Ein klar strukturierter, druckvoller Champagner, der mit seiner Kombination aus Frucht, Säure und Salzigkeit richtig Lust auf den nächsten Schluck macht. Kein „easy drinking“, sondern einer, der Aufmerksamkeit verdient – und bekommt! Verglichen mit dem @veuveclicquot Yellow Label von letztem Montag ist das eine völlig andere Welt: Präziser, fokussierter und mit mehr Tiefe.
