Péhu Guiardel & Fils: Brut Origine

Brut Origine

Péhu Guiardel & Fils | Brut

Too over the top to open champagne at 9:00 AM? No, right?

This morning I was heading to a casual meeting, so basically the perfect occasion to start the day with a glass of Péhu Guiardel & Fils - Brut Origine. No elaborate food pairing, no heavy thinking-man's champagne, just a pleasantly approachable start.

80% Pinot Noir, 20% Chardonnay, and you can feel it. 36 months on the lees for fine structure. Dosage in the Brut range, so dry, but with charm.

In the glass? Red fruit, a hint of brioche, soft on the palate, but with enough freshness to begin the day stylishly.

Not a statement champagne, but exactly right for a casual setting and who knows... maybe for a good deal

9 AM too early for champagne? A champagne lover would probably never say so.

Tasting Notes

Red fruit and a hint of brioche dominate the nose, soft on the palate with enough freshness. An approachable, uncomplicated champagne without grand pretensions.
