Robert Allait: Le Mont de Reuil 2016

Robert Allait: Le Mont de Reuil 2016

The Cuvée

Robert Allait | Brut Nature | 2016 Vintage

A table full of delicacies, a special champagne, this time a pure Meunier champagne that really impressed me.

On the gourmet plate: aged cheese, air-dried beef, anchovies, eggs, spreads, crispy bread and as the highlight, a creamy Burrata marinated with olive oil, balsamic & pepper.

In the glass:

  • Le Mont de Reuil 2016, a single varietal 100% Meunier from the Vallée de la Marne. Why did it pair so well? ️ Malolactic fermentation is always blocked at Robert-Allait, which creates incredible freshness. ️ Meunier focus with citrusy dominance, perfect as a contrast to creamy Burrata and spicy, air-dried beef. ️ The fine perlage and mineral finish beautifully balanced the salty & savory components.

Served in the Fatto a Mano Black Tie, a stylish glass for an elegant champagne.

The right ingredients, the perfect champagne and a relaxed setting in the warmth of the flickering flames from our huge candle, because it really does get quite cool once the sun goes down.

️ What experience have you had with 100% Meunier champagne?

My Tastings

Tasting #01
Robert Allait: Le Mont de Reuil 2016

The Le Mont de Reuil 2016 from Robert Allait is a versatile champagne that shines both with a charcuterie board and with sushi.

Especially with salmon, this 100% Meunier really comes alive, juicy, citrusy, powerful. The freshness complements the creamy fish extremely well, and even wasabi & soy sauce cannot throw this champagne off balance. That's not at all a given!
