Robert Allait — Solera RP-R

Solera RP-R

Robert Allait | Rosé

Rosé? No – Chardonnay. Or?

Sometimes a second look is worth it.

Especially with the Solera RP-R from Robert Allait – a 95% Chardonnay, 5% Pinot Noir Extra Brut.

On the nose: ripe citrus fruit, brioche, roasted almonds. On the palate: creamy, complex, saline – with depth, freshness and a very distinctive character.

But what was the first thing I noticed? The color. Almost rosé-colored, with a copper tint – unusual for a Chardonnay-dominated champagne.

What caused it? Here's what I learned: – The intense color doesn't just come from the Pinot Noir (only 5%!)

– But also from: ️ Barrique aging (40% in wood) ️ No malolactic fermentation – freshness remains, depth develops ️ Long aging time in the Solera, partly with oxidation ️ And also the red stem of my Fatto a Mano glass, which under certain lighting conditions enhances the rosé touch.

Conclusion? Champagne isn't just about taste – but also about texture, color, glass & context. And that's exactly what makes it so fascinating for me.

️ Have you ever had a Blanc de Blancs in your glass that totally surprised you color-wise?
