Bauchet: Cuvée Origine 2018

Bauchet: Cuvée Origine 2018

The Cuvée

Bauchet's Cuvée Origine carries its name thoughtfully: it picks up exactly where the family's story began in 1920, and sees itself as a "mirror of Champagne," a harmonious connection of the three great landscapes of the region, the Côte des Bar, the Côte des Blancs and the Montagne de Reims.

As a Rosé, the 2018 vintage shows unusually playful on the nose: fresh strawberries, raspberries and red currants. With air it becomes creamier, and on the palate the artisanal touch reveals itself, as six percent of the wine aged in oak barrels, which gives it its beautiful creaminess. A fruity, approachable Rosé with one fine detail more.

My Tastings

Why "Origine"? Because this champagne picks up exactly where the Bauchet family's story began in 1920. It is the "mirror of Champagne," a harmonious connection of Côte des Bar, Côte des Blancs and the Montagne de Reims.

What particularly surprises me: On the nose it's incredibly playful. You immediately smell fresh strawberries, raspberries and red currants. With a bit of air it then becomes creamier and on the palate the artisanal touch shows itself and explains the beautiful creaminess: 6% of the wine was aged in oak barrels.
