Rosé Héritage 2023
Champagne Bruyen | Rosé | Vintage 2023
I actually wanted to wind down the late afternoon sun with a light, fresh rosé. My hand reached for the Rosé Héritage from Bruyen. Since it wasn't immediately obvious from the front label what awaited me, I assumed it would be a classic, uncomplicated rosé. But as soon as the wine was in the glass, it became clear to me: I was completely wrong!
This rosé isn't a light aperitif at all, but a genuine Rosé de Saignée made from 100% Pinot Meunier. And it packs a punch!
Without food pairing, this bottle in the sun was a real little challenge. It's incredibly robust, intense and bursting with dark forest berries, cassis and raspberry. Add to that an incredibly exciting structure, because the wine even spent 3 months in oak barrels. With only 2 g/l dosage (Extra Brut), it presents itself very purist and absolutely dry.
But that's exactly what made the tasting so fascinating in the end. With closed eyes in the sun, it wasn't a wine for simple "casual drinking," but one that really makes you think. An intense, almost meditative experience that showed me once again: Meunier as Saignée is absolutely stunning! Next time I'll definitely have some food with it though – maybe a hearty charcuterie board or a fruity dessert.
Tasting Notes
A robust, intense Rosé de Saignée with aromas of dark forest berries, cassis and raspberry. Purist and very dry with exciting structure through oak barrel aging.
