Daniel Deheurles: Terre Noire Brut

Daniel Deheurles: Terre Noire Brut

The Cuvée

Champagne Daniel Deheurles & Filles is a grower house from Celles-sur-Ource, deep in the Côte des Bar in Aube, HVE-certified. The Terre Noire Brut lives up to its name: a powerful, structured champagne with serious character, light on fruit, but spicy and with lots of intensity. Not a light aperitif, but a wine that demands a counterpart, preferably a planned, structured dish that can match its substance.

My Tastings

Morning with the house full of kids: loud, wild, beautiful. One by one they got picked up. Afternoon hanging out with friends. And then evening: peace and quiet. A bottle of champagne. No concrete plan. Just opened it.

Terre Noire Brut: powerful, structured, serious character.

And honestly: I would have preferred to open it with a planned dish. Because as an apéritif it wasn't quite easy, a bit too much for so little around it. But that's complaining at a high level. The evening was great. And the champagne was a worthy finale.
