Champagne Vauversin: Orpair 2019

The Cuvée

Champagne Vauversin is deeply rooted in the Grand Cru village of Oger on the Côte des Blancs, one of the great Chardonnay terroirs of Champagne. Laurent Vauversin sees himself as a winemaker and "explorateur de biodiversité," works organically and consistently crafts his cuvées from one hundred percent Chardonnay from Oger.

Orpair 2019 is the most accessible interpretation of this terroir: fruit-forward and lively, a Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru that opens immediately, with bright fruit, fine perlage and precise freshness. Through the long lees aging it feels creamy and silky, despite the Extra Brut dosage with a charming, almost sweet richness. Ideal as an introduction, aperitif or with light dishes.

My Tastings

I have the pleasure of having three champagnes from Vauversin in my glass, and although they're all based on 100% Chardonnay from Oger, they couldn't be more different.
