Perle de Saignée 2018

The color gives it away: Rosé de Saignée — 14 hours of skin contact. More structure, more juice, a little bit of tannin — and that's exactly what makes it so exciting.

Strawberry, red currant, a hint of spice and that wine-like depth that clearly sets it apart from classic rosé assemblages.

I'm talking about the Perle de Saignée from Veuve Olivier et Fils. A rosé with serious punch, but not that "too much of everything" feel.

Powerful, deep, berry-driven... and at the same time surprisingly drinkable. The kind of rosé you'd normally save for food pairing because you think it might be too intense on its own — but this one was surprisingly solo-friendly.

What I like: Despite all its power, it stays elegant. No unnecessary sugar trying to mask anything — this keeps the berry flavors fresher and more straightforward.

Absolutely successful on its own. With food, probably even stronger. A typical "I can do both" champagne.

Tasting Notes

A robust Rosé de Saignée with aromas of strawberry, red currant, and a hint of spice, showing wine-like depth and light tannins through 14 hours of skin contact. Despite its power, it remains elegant, fresh, and surprisingly drinkable.
