Champagne A. Bergère

Champagne A. Bergère

Champagne A. Bergère is a family domaine from Fèrebrianges, founded in 1949. The vines are planted in three villages of the Côte des Blancs: Fèrebrianges, Étoges and Congy – each with its own soil signature of chalk, sand and clay.

The philosophy is engraved on the agraffe: "Nothing great is done without Passion". Minimally worked, unfiltered, aged on the lees.

History

In 1949, the family began building their own operation in Fèrebrianges. Since then, the domaine has remained in family hands, though the exact generational transitions and names of the current management still need to be clarified.

Vignoble & Soil

The vines are spread across three villages: Fèrebrianges, Étoges and Congy. Each brings its own soil signature – chalk, sand and clay in different proportions. This mixture shapes the house's cuvées and provides both freshness and mineral depth.

Vinification

The wines are minimally worked and unfiltered. Part of the Cuvée Origine is vinified in 228-liter barrels, the rest presumably in stainless steel. Aging takes place on the lees. The dosage for the Origine is 4 g/l – clearly in the Extra-Brut range, though labeled here as Brut.

The Cuvées in Detail

Origine Brut

Citrus, apple and some stone fruit with lightly nutty notes. Fresh and clean, but with surprising depth for a young vintage. Base 2022, partly vinified in 228-l barrels, unfiltered, aged on the lees. Dégorgement November 2024.

70% Chardonnay · 20% Pinot Noir · 10% Meunier · 4 g/l · Base 2022 · Fèrebrianges, Étoges, Congy
