Champagne Rémi Henry — A family, a story, a future to share
I came across this maison through a video on Instagram — that turned into a mail exchange with Marc-Antoine, and that turned into this page.
Champagne Rémi Henry is a family-owned maison from Bouzy, one of the cradles of Pinot Noir in Champagne. Bouzy is classified 100% Grand Cru and sits on the south-facing slope of the Montagne de Reims, in the heart of the Champagne triangle Reims–Épernay–Châlons. The wines of this village were already known far beyond the region at the time of the French royal coronations in Reims from the 17th century onwards — today, the chalk subsoil gives Pinot Noir the tension and mineral depth this cru is known for.
The maison in its current form goes back to 1985: that's when Rémi Henry took over the family vineyards from his grandparents and, together with Odile, founded the champagne house that bears their name today. Now their son Marc-Antoine is writing the next chapter — the second generation of the brand, but a family rooted in Bouzy for centuries. His training took him to several regions of France and abroad, and those experiences are now reflected in the maison's blends: a familiar Bouzy Pinot Noir character, with a deliberate touch of ailleurs — elsewhere.
The family sums it up in a simple formula: "A story, a life, a future to share."

Vignoble & Terroir
The vines are located exclusively in Bouzy — no grapes are bought in from other villages; the entire vineyard is aligned with the identity of the Grand Cru. Bouzy is one of the 17 Grand Cru communes of Champagne and has historically been the Pinot Noir village of the Montagne de Reims. The south-facing slopes deliver late and even ripening; the chalk subsoil stores moisture in dry years and gives the wines their characteristic minerality.

The vineyard is managed under Haute Valeur Environnementale (HVE) and Viticulture Durable en Champagne (VDC) — the two official French sustainability programmes for winegrowing. The maison is also a member of Champagne de Vignerons, the association of independent grower-champagne houses.
Vinification
The harvest is done by hand, as a matter of tradition. Most cuvées are vinified in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks — the exception being the Blanc de Noirs of the Sensation collection, which ferments in half-muids (500-litre oak barrels), as does the Bouzy Rouge. For the three single-vintage cuvées of the Sensation and Brut Nature collections, malolactic fermentation is deliberately blocked — the acidity is meant to stay as a tension element. The classic multi-vintage cuvées go through full malolactic.
Lees aging significantly exceeds the legal minimum: at least 48 months for the multi-vintage Tradition and Elégance, 10 years for Réserve and Ambitieuse, 3 years for the Sensation cuvées. The current release was disgorged in September 2025 (or May/June 2025).

The cuvée range — four collections, 11 cuvées
Marc-Antoine has structured the range into four collections representing distinct stylistic families. The dosage policy is consistent: every cuvée can also be supplied as Extra-Brut or Brut Nature on request.
Collection Brut Expérience — the classic line
Brut Tradition · 70% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay · multi-vintage blend · 48 months on lees · 10 g/l Brut · round and generous, shaped by Pinot Noir fruit and Chardonnay freshness. The maison recommends it as an aperitif and for cocktail evenings, with trout papillote and almonds, or sea bass cooked in a salt crust.
Brut Rosé · 70% Pinot Noir + 5–7% Bouzy Rouge, 30% Chardonnay · 24 months on lees · 10 g/l Brut · gourmand and meaty rosé profile, with Chardonnay freshness carrying the red Pinot fruit. Recommended with salmon gravlax, shrimp ceviche, or a Reims rose biscuit tart.
Brut Réserve · 100% Pinot Noir · multi-vintage blend, bottled April 2012 · 10 years on lees in the cellar · 12 g/l Brut · winey and spicy style with a Pinot Noir backbone and brioche notes. The maison recommends it with spicy or chocolate-driven desserts, Opera spéculoos, or caramel puff pastry.

Collection Cuvée Sensation — single vintage, micro-cuvées
Cuvée Prestige 2021 · 50% Pinot Noir, 50% Chardonnay · 2021 vintage from two parcels, without malolactic · 3 years on lees · 5 g/l Extra-Brut · tensed and frank, with citrus-and-acacia freshness from the Chardonnay and the fruit bite of both varieties. Recommended with seafood, Marennes oysters, Breton sea urchins.
Cuvée Blanc de Blancs 2022 · 100% Chardonnay · parcel selection, micro-cuvée · with malolactic · 3 years on lees · 5 g/l Extra-Brut · mineral and fresh, lemon and pineapple. A Chardonnay grown on a Pinot Noir terroir — the unusual tension is part of the appeal. The maison recommends scallop carpaccio with citrus or a verrine of lemony lobster bisque.
Cuvée Blanc de Noirs Fût de Chêne 2022 · 100% Pinot Noir · parcel selection, vinified in half-muid (500-litre oak) · with malolactic · 3 years on lees · 5 g/l Extra-Brut · framed and woody, Pinot Noir fruit with a slow, progressive attack, then spice and toast. Recommended with a Champenoise salad of smoked duck breast and truffled foie gras.
Collection Brut Nature — zero dosage
Three cuvées that mirror the profile of the Brut line but are released without any dosage at disgorgement:
Brut Nature Elégance · 70% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay · 48 months on lees · 0 g/l · recommended with sesame-crusted tuna tataki, sushi and maki.
Brut Nature Ambitieuse · 100% Pinot Noir · 10 years on lees · 0 g/l · recommended with aged cheeses — 24-month Comté, Chaource, Tomme de Savoie.
Cuvée Brut Nature Evasion 2021 · 50% Pinot Noir, 50% Chardonnay · 2021 vintage, without malolactic · 3 years on lees · 0 g/l · the Brut Nature version of the Prestige cuvée. Recommended with Marennes oysters and seafood.
Coteau Champenois — Bouzy Rouge
Bouzy Rouge 2020 · still wine, 100% Pinot Noir · lieu-dit Le Clos Colin · late hand-harvest · maceration in stainless steel · malolactic and 12 months of aging in half-muid · 3 years of bottle aging · a red Coteaux Champenois with dark fruit, woody notes, spice and length on the palate. Recommended with white and red meat dishes — braised veal chop with rosemary, duck breast with honey, filet mignon with Reims mustard — and afterwards with Chaource.
Collection Nouveau Chapitre — Age d'Or
Brut Nature Age d'Or · magnum and bottle · the rarest cuvée of the house: a collection of exceptional bottles forgotten in the cellars — from the 1994, 1995, 1999, 2003, 2004, 2008 and 2010 vendanges · 50% Pinot Noir, 50% Chardonnay · disgorged June 2025 · 0 g/l Brut Nature. Mature aromas, spice, candied fruit. For exceptional moments — truffled foie gras, caviar, truffle puff pastry.
My tastings
No tasting yet. Marc-Antoine has suggested I come for a tasting at the maison — a trip to Champagne with a visit to the winery in Bouzy is planned. Tasting notes and photo material from the visit will be added after the trip.
