Champagne A. et C. Toullec

A. et C. Toullec is a Vigneron maison from Rilly-la-Montagne in the Montagne de Reims. The initials stand for the two founders, though who exactly is behind them, which generation is working today, and when the maison was founded remains unclear.

Vinification

The cuvée Les Vicomtes is aged in 300-600 l oak barrels on the lees for nine months. The dosage is 3 g/l, classic for the Extra Brut spectrum. A special feature is the hand-tied ficelage made from robust hemp cord with wax seal, not just decorative but a deliberate part of the presentation.

The Cuvées in Detail

Les Vicomtes: Extra Brut (2020)

Powerful, spicy, salty, a champagne with depth and structure that demands attention. Not a pleasing easy sipper, but a wine with clear character. Base 2020, nine months in oak barrels on the lees, disgorged in July 2024.

Terroir: Rilly-la-Montagne, Montagne de Reims · Dosage: 3 g/l · Aging: 9 months · Élevage: Oak barrels 300-600 l
