Champagne Vincent Bliard

Champagne Vincent Bliard is a Récoltant-Manipulant from Hautvillers in the Vallée de la Marne. The maison is run by Vincent Bliard together with Florence and Antoine, at least in the third generation. The organic approach is deeply rooted in the family history: Vincent's grandparents Jean and Hélène began working their vines with organic consciousness as early as the 1960s.

History

The Bliard family has been rooted in Hautvillers for decades. As early as the 1960s, Jean and Hélène, Vincent's grandparents, laid the foundation for farming practices that consider the future. What was rare back then is now the core of the maison philosophy: organic viticulture, continued by the following generations. Florence and Antoine consistently carry on this tradition.

Vignoble & Terroir

The vineyards are located in Hautvillers, a Premier Cru village in the Marne Valley. Hautvillers is known for its steep slopes and chalk-rich soils that give the vines structure and minerality. The hillside locations naturally reduce yield and force the vines to root deeper, an advantage for balance and concentration.

Viticulture & Sustainability

Champagne Vincent Bliard is AB-certified (Agriculture Biologique). Organic farming isn't a trend here, but a practice lived since the 1960s. The family works with consideration for future generations: focus on quality over quantity, lower yields, natural treatment of the vines.

Vinification

Vinification takes place in oak barrels (Foudres), followed by one year of aging in wood. This method emphasizes character and longevity, gives the wine space to develop and allows the terroir expression to emerge clearly. Maturation in the cellar happens slowly, patiently.

The Cuvées in Detail

Les Fondamentaux: Brut Premier Cru

Balanced champagne with a light Pinot Noir accent, but without heaviness. Bright fruit, pear, yellow apple, mirabelle plum, combined with fine lees notes, brioche and nutty hints. The texture is creamy, the finish lightly saline and fresh.

40% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay, 30% Meunier · Brut · Base 2019 · 12 months aging · Premier Cru Hautvillers, Vallée de la Marne · Vinification in Foudre, 1 year wood aging · 13% vol.
