Champagne Jean-Jacques Lamoureux

Champagne Jean-Jacques Lamoureux is a family estate in Les Riceys, the southernmost tip of Champagne on the Côte des Bar. The story begins in 1947, when René Lamoureux planted his first vine. Today, with Jean-Jacques and Vivien Lamoureux, the third generation runs the house, producing cuvées of international reputation on around twelve hectares. In 2016, their work was honored with the Grand Prix d'Excellence at the Concours Général Agricole in Paris.

Vignoble & Terroir

The vines grow in Les Riceys, which with 866 hectares is the largest wine-growing village in Champagne. The slopes are steep and south-facing, the soil is clay-limestone rooted in Kimméridgien marl, that limestone layer that also characterizes neighboring Chablis. This exact signature-chalky tension and minerality-runs through all of the house's cuvées.

Viticulture & Sustainability

Lamoureux works HVE-certified (Haute Valeur Environnementale) following sustainable farming practices. Chemical inputs are reduced as much as possible, with special attention paid to the landscape with well-maintained hedges and parcel borders.

The Cuvées in Detail

Les Amoureux

The most personal cuvée of the house and a single-varietal Pinot Blanc, a grape variety almost forgotten in Champagne. It grows on the historic parcel in the Lieu-dit Val Germain, the very first one that was cleared in 2010 and replanted with Pinot Blanc as a tribute to the grandparents. Exotic nose with lychee and white peach, tense and mineral on the palate. Production doesn't exceed 4,000 bottles per year.

Cuvée Réserve

The heart of production and symbolic of the Côte des Bar, with 99% Pinot Noir. A fruity, approachable champagne for any occasion, created from a balanced blend of current vintage wine and reserve wine aged in barrels.

Cuvée Gabin

A Zéro Dosage from 100% Pinot Noir, mineral and very tense. The uncompromising freshness makes it the ideal companion for seafood.

Champagne Rosé

An authentic terroir rosé, obtained through maceration of whole Pinot Noir grapes, not by blending red and white wine. Fruity and gourmand.

Rosé des Riceys

A rarity: a still rosé wine from the steep south-facing slopes of Riceys, vinified at the border between rosé and red wine. A gastronomic rosé that pairs with poultry, fish, or cheese and is produced in fewer than 60,000 bottles per year.

Cuvée Alexandrine

A Blanc de Blancs Millésime, round with aromas of yellow fruits. Pairs with fish in beurre blanc.

Cuvée Florine

A versatile assemblage of Pinot and Chardonnay, ideal as an apéritif.
