Champagne Marguet

Champagne Marguet

Champagne Marguet is a biodynamic Grand Cru house from Ambonnay, in the heart of the Pinot Noir Grand Crus of the Montagne de Reims. The family has been rooted in Ambonnay since 1870, and today Benoît Marguet shapes the house as the fifth generation with a consistently natural, philosophical approach.

Vineyard & Style

In 2009, Benoît Marguet converted to biodynamics, followed by the demanding Demeter certification in 2013. Work is done with plant preparations and horses in the vineyard, on around ten hectares, mostly in Ambonnay, plus some in Bouzy, with some old vines. In the cellar: spontaneous fermentation in wooden barrels, long lees aging, Extra Brut to Brut Nature and minimal sulfur, each parcel vinified separately.

The Cuvées

Marguet produces distinctly terroir-driven champagnes, from the Ambonnay Grand Cru assemblage to single vineyards like Les Bermonts and Les Crayères to the prestige cuvée Sapience, a collaborative project of several biodynamic winemakers.
