Champagne Nicolas Feuillatte

Champagne Nicolas Feuillatte

Champagne Nicolas Feuillatte is a Coopérative brand (CM), founded in 1976, supported by a collective of 5000 growers from all regions of the Champagne appellation. The headquarters is located in Chouilly (Grand Cru, Côte des Blancs), with Guillaume Roffiaen as Chef de Caves. In 2026, the brand celebrates its 50th anniversary.

History

The Champagne Nicolas Feuillatte brand was launched in 1976. As early as 1998, the house started a free technical consulting program for its grower-members to promote sustainable viticultural techniques — long before sustainability became standard in Champagne. Today, the house specifically guides its affiliated operations toward certifications like VDC, HVE, and organic. The stated goal: 100% VDC-certified operations by 2030.

Vignoble & Soil

The collective manages vineyards in all major regions of Champagne: from the Côte des Blancs (Avize, Oger, Cramant, Mesnil-sur-Oger) through the Montagne de Reims (Ambonnay, Aÿ, Tours-sur-Marne, Verzy, Verzenay, Bouzy) to the Côte des Bar (Les Riceys) and the Aube (Montgueux). Soil types range from chalk in the Côte des Blancs and northern Montagne de Reims to clay-limestone soils in the Montagne Ouest and sandy soils in specific sites.

The headquarters in Chouilly sits on Grand Cru chalk, but the diversity of terroirs is the real asset: each Cuvée specifically draws on parcels in different regions to guarantee style and consistency.

Viticulture & Sustainability

Since 1998, Nicolas Feuillatte has offered all grower-members free viticultural advice to implement new, environmentally friendly techniques. The program is supported by self-diagnosis tools for the operations. Certifications like VDC (Viticulture Durable en Champagne), HVE (Haute Valeur Environnementale), and AB (Agriculture Biologique) are actively promoted.

Additionally, the house focuses on cork recycling for insulation, financial assistance for young growers starting operations, recyclable packaging, and continuous reduction of the carbon footprint. The first organic Cuvée — Organic Extra Brut — has been on the market since 2023.

Vinification

Vinification takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. A central element is the Assemblage of reserve wines, built up over the years to guarantee consistency and stylistic security. Each reserve wine is specifically selected for the respective Cuvée — it should finalize texture, tonality, and balance. Dosage varies by Cuvée between < 6 g/l (Extra Brut) and 41 g/l (Demi-Sec), with typical Brut Cuvées at < 12 g/l.
