Champagne Paul Lebrun

Champagne Paul Lebrun — Chardonnay from Cramant and Sézannais

Champagne Paul Lebrun is a vigneron estate from Cramant on the Côte des Blancs. Led by Nathalie Vignier in the 6th generation. The estate formerly operated under the name Vignier-Lebrun — the email address still carries the old name today. The family has been working with vines in Champagne for over 120 years.

History

The estate was founded around 1900. No verified information is currently available about the first generations and the figure of Paul Lebrun himself. Nathalie Vignier took over management around 2020 and has since worked exclusively with Chardonnay.

Vignoble & Soil

Paul Lebrun cultivates parcels in two different terroirs: Cramant on the Côte des Blancs and in the Sézannais. Cramant is classified as Grand Cru and characterized by chalk and flint, in parts with Kimmeridge influence. The soils in the Sézannais are richer and deliver more fruit. The entire vine material is 100% Chardonnay.

Vinification

Aging takes place in stainless steel tanks. The dosage is 8 g/l (Brut). Nathalie herself summarizes the philosophy: "100% Chardonnay, 100% dedication" — a union of Côte des Blancs finesse with Sézannais fruit.

The Cuvées in Detail

L'Irremplaçable — Blanc de Blancs Brut

"The Irreplaceable" is the approachable Blanc de Blancs of the maison. Fresh apple, pear, citrus, plus toasted aromas, almonds and brioche. The finish is mineral-saline and shows the chalk origin. 34 months aging.

La Signa-Terres — Blanc de Blancs Brut Millésime 2018

Millésime 2018 from Cramant and the Sézannais. Chalky freshness with clear Chardonnay line, precise, without excessive pressure or sweetness. The chalk and flint soils (Kimmeridge-influenced) deliver length, texture and precision. 45 months aging.
