Champagne L'Esprit de Chapuy: Blanc de Blancs from Oger in Female Hands

L'Esprit de Chapuy is a Récoltant-Manipulant from Oger, one of the most renowned Grand Cru villages on the Côte des Blancs. Today the house is run in the 3rd generation by Elodie and Aurore Chapuy, entirely in female hands. The portfolio is clearly focused: 100% Chardonnay Blanc de Blancs, Dosage ranging from 0 to 5 g/l, an emphasis on the chalky Oger minerality without masking it.

Vineyards & Soil

The vines are located in Oger Grand Cru. All documented Cuvées are single varietal Chardonnay Champagnes. The soil signature is typical of Oger: chalky and mineral, with a pronounced limestone structure and a salty minerality. This cool, almost maritime character shows in every glass, chalk, white flowers, stony freshness.

Vinification

Aging takes place in stainless steel (documented for Cuvée Minéral). The philosophy is clear: purity and precision, without any Dosage cosmetics. The range is designed exclusively for wine merchants and restaurateurs. Dosage ranges between 0 g/l (Brut Nature) and 5 g/l (Extra Brut), the chalky minerality of Oger is meant not to be masked, but rather brought to the forefront.

The Cuvées in Detail

Cuvée Chardonnay Grand Cru

Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut with 36 months of aging. Typical of Oger: plenty of chalk, white flowers, an invigorating citrus freshness. Extremely precise and clear, with a mineral saltiness in the finish. Dégorgement: May 2024.

Unique Oger Grand Cru

Blanc de Blancs Brut Nature, without any Dosage. On the nose, cool stony freshness and white flowers, on the palate a knife sharp precision. A purist Champagne with limestone minerality that shows the purity of Oger without compromise. A perfect pairing for oysters.

Cuvée Minéral (2014)

Vintage Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut, base year 2014 with 30% reserve wines (2011-2013). On the nose, spicy and intense: yellow fruit, honey, brioche, and chalky minerality. On the palate, full, powerful, and structured with ripe fruit and good tension. 10 years on the lees, disgorged: 18.02.2025. Aged in stainless steel.

Unique Monthelon (2018)

The outlier of the prestige range UNIQUE: 100% Pinot Meunier from vines over 60 years old in Monthelon, where the soils are noticeably more clay rich than on the Côte des Blancs. The maternal grandfather once used this parcel for his Coteaux Champenois Rouge, which also served him as the base for the Rosé d'Assemblage. The word "HOMMAGE" on the label pays tribute to this work. 72 months on the lees, disgorged December 2024.

Unique Les Dormans (2018)

The Chardonnay counterpart of the UNIQUE range, from the Sézannais. Green apple developing into ripe peach and subtle vanilla, crisp acidity, and the mineral structure of the terroir. Also 72 months on the lees.
