Champagne Robert Dumont

Champagne Robert Dumont is a grower house from Champignol-lez-Mondeville in the Côte des Bar, the southern part of Champagne in the Aube department. This region is Pinot Noir country: the Kimmeridgian limestone soils here resemble those of nearby Chablis more than those of the Marne, and Pinot Noir finds ideal conditions here.

Style

The Cuvée I tasted shows a clear direction: consistently dry, without a masking Dosage, with the intent to show the grape variety and the place in their purest form. No residual sugar to soften the structure, but instead precision and freshness.

The Cuvées in Detail

Emblème

A single-varietal Pinot Noir with 0 g/l Dosage, in other words Brut Nature, and thus very consistent in its approach. What remains is Pinot Noir as it truly is: taut, precise, with a fine bitterness and an acidity reminiscent of fresh lime zest. What's remarkable is that despite being a Pinot Noir, the wine feels fresh and lean, without the classic heaviness of the variety. In summer heat, it's nice to see how it opens up in the glass with just a few degrees more serving temperature.

100% Pinot Noir · Brut Nature (0 g/l) · Côte des Bar
